Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about optimizing raised floor airflow with RackVortex.

How does RackVortex actually lower my PUE?

expand_more
PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) is largely driven by how much energy you spend on cooling vs. computing. RackVortex creates a direct aerodynamic path from your under-floor plenum to your server inlets. This prevents "Bypass Airflow"—where cold air escapes into the room—and allows you to run your CRAC units at lower speeds and higher setpoints while maintaining the same server temperatures. Less work for the AC = lower electric bill = lower PUE.

Is RackVortex easy to relocate or move?

expand_more
Yes, absolutely. RackVortex is designed for flexibility. It is secured using high-strength industrial magnets rather than permanent bolts or fasteners. This allows for effortless relocation or adjustment to align with changing rack configurations without damaging the sub-floor grid.

Will this fit my existing raised floor system?

expand_more
Yes. RackVortex is designed to be universally compatible with standard 24"x24" (600mm) raised floor perforated tiles. It mounts securely to the pedestal support structure without requiring permanent modification to the floor grid.

Does installing this require server downtime?

expand_more
Absolutely not. The RackVortex unit installs entirely beneath the raised floor. You simply lift the perforated tile, snap the Vortex assembly into the sub-floor grid, and replace the tile. Your servers keep running while you upgrade their environment.

Will the scoop block my under-floor cable management?

expand_more
We designed RackVortex with cable trays in mind. The funnel geometry is tapered to allow ample clearance for standard structured cabling and power whips running beneath the row. It actually helps organize airflow around messy cabling, preventing cable dams from blocking air.

Is the material fire-rated?

expand_more
Safety is paramount. RackVortex is constructed from UL94 V-0 rated high-impact polymer. It is non-combustible, self-extinguishing, and fully compliant with NFPA 75 standards for data center airflow containment systems.

How much can I really save?

expand_more
Results vary based on your current efficiency, but our average deployment sees a 10-20% reduction in cooling energy costs. For a standard high-density facility, the ROI is typically achieved in under 6 months.
